My artwork is a conversation held on the history and markings of the human body as it pertains to contemporary folklore. Through each individualized lore, a collective contemporary mythology is written. This conversation reaches beyond a physically experienced timeline into the inclusion of emotional and mental landscapes. Observing these facets together, as a collective group, creates an immersive experience. The result catalogs a direct reflection of the current time, as it innovates, while displaying historical flow through; what has progressed and what has remained locked in time.

With these reflections, my work presents itself as that of a historian. To record my findings, I annotate using a language composed of symbolic imagery. This form of communication manifests through a collected library of folkloric and historical anecdotes along with their assigned symbolical depictions. I hold a long fascination with the lessons, omens, and interpretations of the past, especially as it pertains to flora, fauna, and anatomy. I conjoin the stories of these resources with concurrent imagery related to personal experiences. Akin to verbal language, repetition of imagery within my artwork is a common element.
The contextual landscape depicted with this language thrives within the topics of relationships, references to home-life and domesticity, socioeconomic critique and a deeper exploration of the self. Within my art practice, I employ the process of making intuitively. This method allows my work to evolve naturally, without force. These moments of intuition often originate as the spark of a feeling or an unexplained, sudden obsession. This process provides a true, unfiltered testament to my observations. The materiality of my work is embodied through print media, fiber art, and sculpture.
